How’s this for a slice of fried gold! For my blog of the other day, I had the genius idea of somehow finding four “posing strangers” from my dusty old photo albums – if for no other reason than it seemed like a good idea at the time – and confronting them, chronicling the journey as I go. With social media as our weapon, we’re going to start now!
Join this facebook group – Who are you – and what the hell are you doing in my photo?
Help us find them! Pass this on to all your friends! If we spread this to enough people worldwide, we’ll find them – and what a story we will have to tell!
Posing stranger number 1 – Boston, USA, 1991
I used to be the kind of guy that just loved cheesy tourist traps, and in Boston, there’s none cheesier than the Cheers Bar, just off Boston Common. The bar apparently inspired the long running TV show, although the interior looks nothing like the set of the show. From what I’ve heard anyway – I never actually watched the show…
So as I ticked this famous landmark of my “must see” list, I spoke briefly to the doorman, a conversation which went something like this:
“Hey, how’s it goin’ mate? Mind if I take a photo?”
“Hey, go for your life pal!”
“Thanks! So this must be a pretty fun place to work?”
“Oh I don’t work here….”
“Er… right… OK.”
So what was this guy doing there? Then I realised he had a camera in his hand. He was just some schmuck like me…
Let’s find this guy!
What do we know about him:
- Was definitely at the Cheers Bar on August 25th 1991 (yes my records are that meticulous)
- American accent. Not Southern, maybe regional (North Eastern states)
- Likes polo shirts and long socks with shorts. OK… well it was 20 years ago.
And that’s about it. Hopefully we have a few Sherlock Holmes out there.
Gees, even Larry Holmes would help at this early stage.
